HasLab is Hasbro’s in-house crowdfunding platform for ultra-deluxe collectibles that would be impossible to finance through traditional retail channels. Introduced to the public at New York Toy Fair 2018 with the Star Wars “Jabba’s Sail Barge” (The Khetanna), each project launches with a set funding window and a unique minimum backer target. Nothing is built until that target is reached, and backers’ payment methods are only charged when the campaign ends successfully—so you pledge now but pay later, once production is guaranteed.

Every campaign specifies its own required backer level—for one project it might be 8,000 supporters, for another 17,000—reflecting the size, tooling and licensing costs involved. Many HasLab projects also feature optional “tiers”: additional figures, accessories or display pieces that unlock automatically as higher milestones are met, rewarding the entire pool of supporters. If a campaign never hits its base goal, neither the main item nor any tiers move forward, underscoring HasLab’s all-or-nothing approach.
