• This R2-D2 figure was released single carded exclusively through Target stores in the United States
• The droid had been available for several months in international markets before landing in the U.S. on store shelves in early May 2022
• The packaging and the color scheme on the figure are a nod to the Star Wars: Droids - The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO cartoon from the mid 1980s
• The figure is a repaint of the in 2010 released R2-D2 figure
• Hasbro included a periscope accessory with R2-D2 which can be plugged into an opening in the dome
• When the periscope is being pushed down it'll move the middle leg out of R2's body and puts him into a 3-legged stance
• When the middle leg is pushed up the periscope moves up out of the dome
• The dome can be rotated 360° only when the periscope is not plugged in
• The front panel on the body can be opened and one of R2-D2's tools can be manually pulled out
• The included gold Lucasfilm coin looks great and is surprisingly heavy
• There is a hole in the middle of the dome which has no functionality (there was no accessory included to interact with it)
• R2-D2 looks pretty nice overall and the paint application is a nice throwback to the 1980s cartoon
• Our beloved droid stands well on display without falling over
