Ammo Wagon And Falumpaset

6/16/2026

Released near the end of Hasbro's Star Wars: Episode I line for $19.99, the Ammo Wagon & Falumpaset arrived in early 2000 and gave collectors another opportunity to expand their Gungan army displays from The Phantom Menace. Packaged in the familiar black-and-red Episode I design featuring Darth Maul in the upper-left corner, the set brought one of the Battle of Naboo's support creatures and battle wagons into the 3.75-inch scale line. More than two decades later, this unique creature-and-vehicle combination remains one of the most distinctive releases from the Episode I collection and continues to hold up surprisingly well as a display piece.

The multi-language version of this set (pictured in this article) is identical to the one sold in the United States, the only difference is the multi-language packaging, and the multi-language instruction sheet.

Assembly

Once removed from the packaging and the plastic baggies, some assembly is required. Collectors will need to attach the outer wagon shells, connect the harness system, and assemble the various wagon components before connecting everything to the Falumpaset creature.

Fortunately, assembly is straightforward and should take approximately 10 to 15 minutes from start to finish. No stickers are included with the set, which means everything comes pre-decorated and ready for display immediately after assembly.

Paint Applications

One of the most impressive aspects of this release is the paint work. Even more than twenty-five years after its original release, the set still looks fantastic. The Falumpaset creature features multiple shades of brown that help create realistic skin textures and visual depth across its large body.

The ammo wagon itself uses various green and brown tones that give it an organic appearance consistent with the natural environments seen on Naboo. The color palette blends beautifully with the creature and helps create the impression that the wagon belongs naturally within the Gungan world.

Features

Mounted on top of the wagon is a projectile launcher that fires the Gungans' famous Blue Energy Balls, commonly referred to as Boomas. Two blue Booma projectiles are included with the set. Once inserted into the launcher, a button on the rear activates the firing mechanism and launches the projectile forward.

The rear compartment of the wagon opens to reveal storage space for additional Booma ammunition. This simple feature adds a bit of functionality and helps recreate scenes from the Battle of Naboo.

Also included is a Gungan warrior figure, although collectors should note that it is only sculpted from the waist up. The figure is permanently attached to its position and cannot be removed from the wagon. There is a small turning knob on the ammo wagon. When the knob is turned, it raises the included Gungan warrior's left arm, giving the seated figure a bit of animated movement while operating the wagon.

Display Options

The Ammo Wagon and Falumpaset offers several display options. The included Gungan warrior rides alongside the creature at the front of the wagon, while an additional Gungan warrior figure can be positioned on top to operate the Booma launcher.

The rear section of the wagon provides even more display opportunities. There are standing platforms on both sides, each equipped with a foot peg that allows a standard 3.75-inch figure to ride securely on the back of the vehicle. With additional Gungan warriors placed on the wagon, the set begins to resemble the support units seen during the Battle of Naboo.

When fully populated with figures, the display possibilities are surprisingly impressive and help bring one of Episode I's large-scale battle scenes to life.

Articulation & Scale

The biggest compromise of the set is undoubtedly the creature itself. Compared to its appearance in The Phantom Menace, the Falumpaset is somewhat underscaled. However, the reduced size works reasonably well within the constraints of the 3.75-inch line and helps keep the overall set manageable for collectors.

Articulation is also extremely limited. The tail can swivel a full 360 degrees, but the legs, neck, and head remain completely static. Nevertheless, the creature's sculpt is strong enough that it still presents well without additional articulation.

Final Thoughts

Twenty-six years after its release, the Ammo Wagon & Falumpaset is still a cool display piece. The paint applications get the job done, the Booma-launching feature adds some play value, and the multiple rider positions help create a dynamic Battle of Naboo display.

The set certainly has its shortcomings. The Falumpaset lacks meaningful articulation, the included Gungan warrior is only a half-figure, and the creature itself is somewhat underscaled. However, these issues are easy to overlook because it does look great on display.

Ammo Wagon and Falumpaset

Perhaps most importantly, the likelihood of Hasbro ever revisiting this set is extremely small. For collectors of the Episode I line, this release remains a unique piece of Star Wars action figure history and an excellent addition to any Naboo battlefield display.
