Vintage Collection Imperial Remnant AT-RT Review

3/29/2026

The Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Imperial Remnant AT-RT arrived in late March 2026 as a mainline release with a suggested retail price of $69.99 before tax and shipping. At the time of this review, the vehicle was only available through fan channel outlets, while Target and Walmart stores had not stocked it yet (it was announced by Hasbro as being a mainline release). The vehicle and trooper are based on their appearances in the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.

There is a lot to like here at first glance. The included Imperial Remnant AT-RT Driver is a nice bonus, the vehicle looks sharp, and Hasbro even packed in a display stand that lets collectors pose it in a running or slightly jumping position. That extra display option adds a lot of personality right out of the gate and gives the vehicle more presence than a simple parked display ever could.

However, once the price enters the conversation, things get a little more complicated. At nearly $80 after tax/shipping, this release asks a lot from collectors, and while the AT-RT is fun, functional, and visually appealing, the final package does not fully justify that premium asking price. In other words, the vehicle looks the part, but the price tag feels far too ambitious for what is actually included.

Packaging

The packaging looks excellent (difficult to screw up the classic Kenner inspired design). It uses the familiar Star Wars: The Vintage Collection layout with the Kenner logo, while also featuring the new The Mandalorian and Grogu branding. Full-color illustrations appear on all sides, giving the box a polished, premium presentation that feels right at home alongside all the other toys released in TVC.

Assembly

Assembly is about as painless as it gets. There is no sticker sheet, no frustrating setup process, and no fiddly surprises waiting in the box. Some of the buttons in the cockpit area are already pre-painted. All you really need to do is plug the two legs into the main body, and within seconds the AT-RT is ready for action.

The display stand also comes together quickly. It consists of a base and a longer support pole that plugs into the underside of the vehicle. Once attached, it gives the AT-RT a dynamic presentation that works extremely well for action poses. It is a simple addition, but feels very sturdy, makes a real difference and helps this release feel more alive on the shelf.

Design and Functionality

The overall sculpt is strong. This is one of the nicest-looking AT-RTs released in the history of the 3 3/4" line, with crisp details throughout and a design that feels faithful to the source material. The vehicle also benefits from very tight joints, which is exactly what you want on something with this kind of stance. It can be posed in energetic, action-oriented positions without constantly threatening to topple over.

The Imperial Remnant AT-RT Driver fits extremely well in the seat, and getting the figure into position is refreshingly easy. The footrests on both sides work as intended, and the figure settles in naturally. This is one of those things that collectors immediately notice because seating figures properly has often been a battle over the years. Here, Hasbro handled it very well. In that respect, this release follows in the footsteps of the Vintage Collection Howler, where figure integration was also handled with impressive care.

The handlebars can be moved up and down, which helps fine-tune the seated pose and allows the driver to grip them convincingly. The laser cannon can swivel left/right and has a bit of vertical movement as well, plus the included blast effect plugs into the front for an added battle/action display. Din Djarin by the way from The Vintage Collection also fits nicely in the seat, which is another welcome plus for display flexibility.

That said, there are also a few limitations. The antenna on the back is permanently attached, and the various canisters mounted behind the seat are not removable either. So while the vehicle poses well, it does not offer a lot in the way of interactive features or removable components.

Paint and Finish

This is where the release stumbles the most. The sculpted detail is there, but the paint work does not fully support it. There is some light snow deco on the feet, and the cockpit area features a bit of scratching and scuffing, but beyond that, the vehicle looks very clean. Too clean, honestly.

For a release at this price point, Hasbro needed to go further. The underside especially feels underfinished, and the antenna on the back has a noticeably plain grey plastic appearance that stands out for the wrong reasons. More weathering, more paint variation, and more attention to the smaller sculpted details would have gone a long way toward making this feel like a premium collector piece instead of a lighter, more basic offering.

Value and Final Thoughts

If price were removed from the equation, this would be an easy vehicle to recommend. It looks good, it poses well, the included driver is appreciated, and the display stand adds a lot of fun to the overall presentation. As a pure toy and display piece for 3.75-inch collectors, it works. This is the way, at least part of the way.

But price cannot be ignored here. At $69.99 before tax, the Imperial Remnant AT-RT feels too light, too clean, and too limited in features to fully earn its cost. Hasbro needed to do more, especially in the paint department, to make this feel worthy of the premium. The final product is solid, but the value just is not there.

Should you buy it? Yes, pick it up, but not at full price. If you can find it on a deep discount for around $40, it becomes a much easier vehicle to appreciate and recommend. At that level, the fun factor, display options, and included figure make a lot more sense. Until then, this is a nice release that falls short of becoming an essential one.
