The Star Wars The Black Series Darth Vader vs. Luke Skywalker Bespin 2-pack arrived in fall 2025 as a fan channel exclusive and sold out almost immediately after release. Originally priced at $69.99, the set has since increased to $79.99 at specialty retailers. As a fan channel release, it was offered through select collectible shops rather than mass-market outlets, and as of this review, Amazon is not carrying it. Featuring Star Wars The Black Series Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker Bespin, this set quickly became one of the more talked-about Black Series releases of the year.

The set includes two Black Series 6" action figures and a display base inspired by the climactic duel from The Empire Strikes Back. Assembly is simple and should take no more than a few minutes. The base comes with translucent support pieces that attach underneath to elevate the platform, along with railing sections that plug into place. No instructions were included, but the setup process is straightforward enough that they are not really necessary.

One nice touch is that the base does not include foot pegs, which allows both figures to be positioned freely for display. Once assembled, the set has a strong shelf presence and does a good job recreating the atmosphere of the Bespin confrontation. However, while the sculpted details on the base are impressive, the paint applications feel somewhat restrained. Areas where the railing poles have been cut would have benefited from heavier battle damage and additional weathering to better sell the intensity of the scene.
Star Wars The Black Series Darth Vader is largely based on the previously released figure that collectors have seen multiple times before, but this version adds a wired cape. That upgrade gives the figure a more dynamic display option, allowing collectors to shape the cape as though it is blowing in the wind. It is an effective enhancement and helps create dramatic poses that stand out on the shelf.

The wired cape does add visual impact, but it also shifts some weight toward the back of the figure, which can make balancing Darth Vader a little trickier in certain poses. Even so, it is still possible to achieve some cool poses with enough patience. While the cape is the standout addition, the figure otherwise remains very familiar, making Darth Vader feel more like a light update than a substantially new release.
Luke Skywalker Bespin is where much of the new work in this set can be found figure-wise. The figure includes battle damage on the arms and knees, heavier weathering throughout, and a facial injury beneath the left eye that reflects his appearance during the duel. The overall presentation is excellent, and this is easily the best Luke Skywalker Bespin figure released in Star Wars The Black Series so far.

The updated portrait and paint applications give Luke a more screen-accurate and battle-worn appearance, which makes him the highlight of the set. When displayed opposite Darth Vader on the assembled base, the two figures create an impressive centerpiece that captures one of the most iconic moments in Star Wars history.
Despite the set's strong visual presentation, it also feels incomplete in some important ways. The biggest issue is the lack of additional hands. Extra hands would have made it possible to recreate several essential moments from the duel, including Darth Vader clenching his fist or reaching out to Luke with an open palm hand during his attempt to bring him to the dark side. Those display options are not possible here because the necessary hands were not included.

The set also misses an opportunity with Luke Skywalker. Although his right hand can be removed to suggest the aftermath of the duel, a separate battle-damaged severed hand accessory would have added a much more convincing and dramatic effect. For a premium-priced release, omissions like these stand out and make the overall package feel less complete than it should have been.

In the end, this is still a visually impressive Black Series release with an excellent Luke Skywalker Bespin figure, a nicely staged display base, and a useful wired cape for Star Wars The Black Series Darth Vader. However, the set also feels overpriced for what is included, especially given that Darth Vader is mostly a repack and key accessories were left out. Overall, this set earns a 7 out of 10. It looks great on display, but it falls short of being the definitive version of this iconic Bespin showdown.
