We honestly cannot believe Hasbro is making this figure. The announcement of Chalmun for the 3 ¾-inch Vintage Collection feels almost unreal and stands out as one of the most exciting deep cuts in years. The character’s quirky design, complete with that unmistakable mustache, perfectly captures the offbeat charm that has always defined the alien cast of A New Hope and helped make Star Wars collecting so compelling. On top of that, the release serves as a subtle tribute to Ralph McQuarrie, whose artwork was instrumental in shaping the visual language of Star Wars, making this figure especially meaningful for longtime fans and collectors.
Hasbro has announced a 3 ¾-inch Vintage Collection Chalmun action figure (here is the announcement) for release in 2026. This marks the first time the character has ever been produced in this scale, making it a true first for the line and a remarkable addition to the Vintage Collection.

Chalmun is the Wookiee proprietor of Chalmun’s Cantina, the legendary Mos Eisley establishment seen in Star Wars A New Hope. The cantina plays a pivotal role early in the film when Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi search for transportation, and it remains one of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars saga. While the film itself never named the owner, expanded Star Wars material later identified the Wookiee as Chalmun, giving additional depth to the setting and its history.
One of the most memorable explorations of the cantina and its inhabitants appeared in the Mos Eisley Cantina pop-up book by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta, illustrated by Ralph McQuarrie. McQuarrie’s artwork brought the cantina scene to life in a unique way and featured characters that went far beyond what was shown on screen. His illustrations helped cement the idea that the cantina was a fully realized world filled with stories waiting to be told, including the presence of its Wookiee owner.
For many collectors, Chalmun always felt like a perfect candidate for a deep-cut release and a natural fit for the HasLab Mos Eisley Cantina. When the figure was not included with that project, it was easy to assume it might never be made. The fact that Hasbro is now releasing Chalmun proves that even the most obscure and long-requested characters are still on the table.
This figure is a fantastic addition for anyone building a Vintage Collection display focused on A New Hope, and it should be especially exciting for collectors who backed the Mos Eisley Cantina. Chalmun fits seamlessly into that environment and adds another layer of authenticity to an already iconic scene. Happy collecting everyone!
