In the United States, the Star Wars The Black Series toy line debuted officially on August 1, 2013. This series was the continuation of the much loved The Vintage Collection, which was aimed entirely at collectors. The figures released in this line featured a higher point of articulation and more detailed sculpts than the Saga Legends line, which was on store shelves at the same time. The first few shipments of wave 1 suffered packaging issues where the bubbles weren't secured well onto their cardbacks, which caused them to fall off when the figures were taken in hands. An issue Hasbro fixed quickly thereafter.
Out of 112 figures released 52 were exclusives, which shows a focus of 46.43% on exclusives and 53.57% on regularly available figures.
If you have purchased one of each figure pictured here on this page when it was released at regular MSRP in the United States, or one of each multipack / convention exclusive, you've spent a total of $1456.28. This averages out to $13.00 per figure.
